13-inch Air or 15-inch Air: check the year, not just the size
The MacBook Air 13.6" arrived in 2022 with the M2 chip and replaced the older wedge-shaped 13.3" Air. The two look similar on paper, but the newer body is flat and slightly different in size, so a case for one will not sit right on the other. The 15.3" Air followed in 2023.
To check yours, open the Apple menu and choose About This Mac. The first line shows the model, screen size and year, for example "MacBook Air, 13-inch, M2, 2022". Pick that size from the dropdown on the product page.
Frequently asked questions
Which MacBook Air models do these cases fit?
These cases fit the MacBook Air 13.6-inch from 2022 and later and the MacBook Air 15.3-inch from 2023 and later. They do not fit the older 13.3-inch Air with the tapered wedge body.
How do I find out which MacBook Air I have?
Open the Apple menu in the top-left corner and choose About This Mac. The first line shows the model, screen size and year.
Does the case cover the ports or the vents?
No. The cut-outs leave every port, the vents and the hinge free, so you can charge and plug in accessories with the case on.
Will my MacBook Air still fit in a laptop sleeve with the case on?
Yes. The shell adds only a few millimeters, so it still slides into a sleeve made for that MacBook size.
